6-Day Tour to Marrakech via Desert and Todra Gorges
Day 1: Fes - Midelt
After breakfast we head towards Midelt, passing through Ifrane, which is known as the Switzerland of Morocco.
We will stop for a break in the ancient cedar forest of Azrou and enjoy watching the Barbary apes which live there.
We will continue our journey across the Middle Atlas mountains until we arrive in Midelt where we will spend the night in a hotel.
Day 2: Midelt - Merzouga
You will be able to enjoy breakfast in your hotel before we travel through the spectacular Ziz Valley with its canyons and gorges. There will be plenty of time for photos en route to Errachidia, before continuing to Erfoud, which is famous for being the fossil capital of the region.
After lunch we will continue to Merzouga where the remainder of the day will be spent enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the desert.
You will spend the night in a hotel close to the dunes of the Sahara.
Day 3: Merzouga - Desert (Erg Chebbi)
After a leisurely breakfast in your hotel, we embark on our route across the desert, passing through several villages such as Khamlia. The forefathers of the residents of Khamlia were from Mali and were brought to North Africa as slaves. We will make a stop here to share a mint tea with some of the residents and hear some traditional Gnaoua music
Following this short break we will continue our route and visit Berbers in their jaimas (traditional tents) and discover a totally different way of life.
In the afternoon we will check into the hotel before mounting our camels and riding across the dunes to our campsite. Here we will enjoy traditional Berber food and music under a sky filled with a multitude of twinkling stars, before sleeping in jaimas.
Day 4: Erg Chebbi - Todra Gorges
You will be woken early so that you can climb the dunes on your camels to see the beautiful sunrise and ride back to the hotel where you can enjoy breakfast and take showers before we set off to Rissani en route to Todra Gorge.
Here we will make a short stop to visit the Berber suq which is considered to be the largest in south Morocco.
We will then continue our journey to Todra Gorges where you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 5: Todra Gorges - Ouarzazate
Following a relaxed breakfast in your hotel we will make a short tour of the gorge, with its 160m high walls, before continuing through the Dades Valley and the Valley of Roses where damask roses are grown and many beautifully perfumed rose products are manufactured.
After driving through the lush Oasis of Skoura, we will arrive in Ouaarzazate where you will have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 6: Ouarzazate - Marrakech
One of the most impressive kasbahs still in existence is the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou and we will make a visit to this impressive site after breakfast. This kasbah is famous for being the backdrop for many famous films, such as Gladiator, and is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After this visit we will continue our journey towards Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas mountains via the Tizi N’Tichka pass. If time permits we will make a stop at the women’s co-operative where they produce Argan oil and many associated products. Arrival in Marrakech in the early evening.
