Ouarzazate
Morocco
With a name meaning "without noise" or "without confusion" in Berber, Ouarzazate Morocco
is a
peaceful tourist destination in the southern
portion of the country. Although it is rather small by Moroccan
standards - it has about 60,000 citizens - Ouarzazate nonetheless
provides ample opportunities for entertainment and a number of
intriguing attractions. Also, this is the largest city in Saharan
Morocco, and is an excellent place to embark on explorations of that
mighty desert without spending a great deal of money or time. Many
tourists plan Saharan holidays around Ouarzazate, since it is so
conveniently located and has so many options for doing so. Whether you
come here to explore the desert or simply to learn more about Moroccan
culture, there's no doubt that Ouarzazate is a great choice.
Ouarzazate
Morocco: One of the Important Holiday Destinations
The
small village of M'Hamid is located not far from Ouarzazate, and is the
place that many people use to set out on travels around the Sahara.
When you come to Ouarzazate, you can either rent a car and head out
this way on your own - an excellent way to save money - or you can hire
an agency to plan such an expedition for you. Ouarzazate has many
agencies that can help you make the most of a visit to the Sahara,
allowing you to efficiently plan a tour of the area and get a better
understanding of it both ecologically and culturally. After all, the
Sahara is a huge part of Morocco; Ouarzazate Morocco is considered by
many to be a gateway of sorts into this interesting world.
Ouarzazate
Morocco: The Film Capital of Morocco
Other
than the desert, there are many other neat things to see and do in
Ouarzazate. Ait Benhaddou - an incredibly well-preserved Kasbah in the
city - has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well
worth a visit by anyone who comes here. Many big Hollywood movie
productions have been filmed here, including the blockbuster movie
"Gladiator" starring Russell Crowe. The architecture at this place is
truly one-of-a-kind, yet also manages to exemplify the image that many
people have in their minds of Moroccan culture. If you only visit one
major attraction while in Ouarzazate, you would be well advised to make
it Ait Benhaddou.
